Reading a Samsung model and serial number
Every Samsung appliance carries a model number and a serial number on its rating plate, and the model number’s prefix is the fastest way to identify the appliance family before anything else. Washers start WA (top-load), WF (front-load), or WV (FlexWash); dryers start DVE (electric) or DVG (gas); dishwashers start DW80; refrigerators start RF, RS, RT, or RB; standalone freezers start RZ; ranges start NE (electric) or NX (gas/dual-fuel); cooktops start NZ or NA; wall ovens start NV or NQ; microwaves start ME, MC, or MS; and range hoods start NK. A separate string beginning DA97- printed nearby is a replacement part number, not a model number, and should not be confused with one. Laundry and dishwashing families
Washers span WA-prefix top-load and WF-prefix front-load machines, including FlexWash and Bespoke AI models. Dryers include DVE electric units and their DVG gas counterparts. Dishwashers run the DW80 platform, including WaterWall and StormWash configurations.
Refrigeration and cooking families
Refrigerators include RF French-door, RS side-by-side, RT top-freezer, and RB bottom-freezer models, several with Family Hub touchscreens. Freezers run the RZ upright line. Ice makers are identified by the host refrigerator’s model number, since the module has no separate plate of its own. Range hoods run the NK-prefix family. The rating plate is usually inside a refrigerator or freezer on a side wall, on the oven door frame, inside a dishwasher tub edge, or on the front or top edge of a laundry machine; record the complete model and serial string before you book so the correct OEM or high-quality replacement part is sourced the first time.
