Samsung’s NZ and NA cooktops, including induction models, use the same MICOM control language found across the range and oven line, but induction adds a wrinkle: pan detection. A cooktop that won’t power on, cycles a burner off unexpectedly, or shows an underlined “u” on the display is telling you something specific, and we test for it directly.
Cooktop problems we diagnose
On induction models, an underlined “u” means the cooktop isn’t detecting compatible, properly-sized cookware on the element — often a pan issue rather than a hardware problem, which we rule out first. We also diagnose C-F0, C-F1, and C-F2 communication problems between the cooktop and its control module, C-d0, C-d1, and C-d2 door or key errors on models with integrated controls, and C-20 through C-22 temperature sensor failures. C-10 indicates a sensor self-test failure, C-24 signals rapid temperature rise or restricted ventilation beneath the unit, and d0 points to a stuck touch button. SE and -SE- key-short problems are shared with Samsung’s other MICOM-based cooking appliances. We do not treat bare E0, E1, E2, or E5 displays as documented Samsung codes — if you see one, we test the touch panel directly rather than chasing a code that doesn’t correspond to a real problem.

- Test the induction coil, temperature sensor, or touch control board tied to that specific problem
- Quote the repair once the real cause is confirmed, then complete it with genuine OEM parts
- Verify the fix under real cooking load, not just a power-on test
On multi-zone induction cooktops, a single zone can lose power while the rest of the surface keeps working, which usually traces back to that zone’s individual coil driver rather than a shared board failure. Radiant NZ cooktops present differently — a surface element that glows unevenly or cycles rapidly on and off is typically a relay or element-connector issue we test directly rather than assuming the whole control module needs replacing. Scratched or pitted glass surfaces, while not an electrical problem, can also interfere with pan detection on induction models, so we inspect the cooking surface itself as part of any “u” complaint.
