What to Check First
Confirm the refrigerator is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not an extension cord or surge protector — refrigerators should always have a dedicated, direct connection. Check that the plug sits snugly in the outlet and isn’t loose or warm to the touch. If your area recently had a storm or brief power interruption, unplug the refrigerator for a couple of minutes and plug it back in to let the board reset and see if 85C clears.
If the code returns without any recent power event, or the outlet itself feels loose or warm, that points toward a wiring issue rather than something inside the refrigerator.
