9C1 is a voltage or power-supply code on a Samsung dryer. The control board has detected incoming electrical power outside the range it expects — often tied to household wiring or the outlet the dryer is plugged into rather than a problem inside the appliance.
What Commonly Triggers It
- A dryer outlet or breaker sharing a circuit that’s overloaded by other appliances
- Loose wiring at the outlet, the dryer’s power cord terminal block, or the breaker panel
- A brief power fluctuation or outage that leaves the board in a problem state until reset
- An improperly wired 240V outlet, especially after a recent move or new installation
What to Check First
Unplug the dryer, wait about a minute, and plug it back in to clear a problem caused by a momentary power blip — this resolves 9C1 in a fair number of cases. Check that the outlet isn’t loose by feeling whether the plug sits snugly, and confirm the dryer isn’t sharing a circuit with other high-draw appliances that could cause voltage sag when they cycle on. If the dryer was recently installed or moved to a new outlet, that wiring deserves a second look.
If the code returns right away or appears randomly during otherwise normal cycles, the power supply feeding the unit — not the dryer’s internals — is the most likely source.
When to Call for Help
Persistent 9C1 codes warrant a look at both the dryer’s power terminal block and the home’s electrical connection. Our Samsung dryer repair technicians can test voltage at the outlet and inside the unit to pinpoint where the problem sits.
