Understanding error code C-22.

Cooktop overheated or cooling airflow is restricted.

C-22 on a Samsung cooktop is another entry in the shared temperature-sensor failure family, indicating the control board is receiving an out-of-range reading from a surface or zone sensor. It sits alongside C-20 and C-21 in Samsung’s sensor diagnostics, generally reflecting a different affected sensor or a different type of reading error within that same circuit.

What Can Cause C-22

  • A degraded or failed temperature sensor for one of the cooking zones
  • Moisture or spilled liquid that has worked its way under the glass near a sensor connector
  • A loose harness connection between the sensor and the main control board
  • Long-term heat exposure that has broken down the sensor wiring insulation

What to Check First

Power the cooktop down at the breaker for a minute or two before restarting, which clears some sensor failures that were caused by a momentary reading spike rather than an actual failure. Clean the cooktop surface fully and let it dry, since residual moisture near a sensor housing is a common false trigger. Note which zone was active when the code appeared, as that helps narrow down which sensor needs testing.

When It’s Time for a Technician

If C-22 keeps returning on the same zone after a reset, the sensor for that zone almost certainly needs to be tested with a multimeter and replaced if it’s reading outside spec. Running the cooktop with a persistent sensor failure risks uneven heating on that zone. Our cooktop repair service handles Samsung sensor replacement.
