What drives a rapid temperature rise
Samsung cooktops monitor how quickly heat builds under and around the cooking zones, and C-24 fires when that rate exceeds the board’s threshold. The most common sources are:
- Blocked ventilation underneath the cooktop, often from cabinetry that traps heat instead of letting it dissipate
- A cooling fan (on induction models) that has slowed down or stopped
- Cookware that is undersized, warped, or not making full contact with the cooking zone, causing heat to concentrate unevenly
- A failing temperature or power sensor reporting an inaccurate rate of change
What to check before calling for service
Let the cooktop cool completely, then power it off at the breaker for a minute. Check that the cabinet space beneath the cooktop has the clearance Samsung specifies and isn’t blocked by a drawer liner, stored items, or a poorly fitted cutout — restricted airflow is one of the more common owner-fixable causes of this code. Also confirm you’re using flat-bottomed, appropriately sized cookware for the burner in use, especially on induction zones.
If C-24 continues to appear with clear ventilation and proper cookware, the internal cooling fan or a temperature sensor likely needs inspection, which means accessing the electronics housed beneath the glass surface. That housing is sealed against spills and heat, so opening it without the right process risks cracking the cooktop or damaging the seal — best left to a technician.
