About Samsung cooktops.

Samsung cooktops overview with model families, common problems, maintenance checks, and repair guidance.

Samsung’s NZ and NA cooktops are almost entirely induction and radiant electric, which changes what actually breaks compared to a gas surface. There are no igniters or burner ports to clean and clog — instead, problems tend to show up in the pan-detection coils, touch controls, or the glass-mounted temperature sensors underneath the cooking zones.

What Samsung Cooktops Offer

NZ-series cooktops are primarily induction, using magnetic coils to heat cookware directly rather than heating the glass surface itself, which makes them faster to respond and cooler to the touch outside the active cooking zone. NA-series models cover radiant electric cooktops for households without induction-compatible cookware. Higher-end induction models include Virtual Flame technology, a ring of light around each zone that mimics a gas burner’s flame height so it’s easier to judge heat level visually on a surface with no actual flame. Flex Zone cooking areas let two adjacent burners combine into one larger zone for griddles or oversized pans, and a Smart Dial control on some models lets a single physical dial control multiple functions depending on what’s selected on the display.

Cooktop Problems We Diagnose

  • Cooking zone won’t power on, or shuts off shortly after starting
  • Cookware not recognized by an induction zone even though it’s induction-compatible
  • Touch controls unresponsive or triggering the wrong zone
  • Uneven heating across a Flex Zone combined area
  • Zone stuck on, unable to be powered down from the control panel
  • Display or Virtual Flame ring not lighting up

Cooktop Error codes

Cooktops share the same MICOM code family as Samsung’s ranges and ovens. A communication problem with the control board shows C-F0, C-F1, or C-F2. Door and key problems — relevant mainly on combined range-cooktop units — display as C-d0, C-d1, or C-d2. Temperature sensor failures read C-20, C-21, or C-22, and a failed sensor self-test shows C-10. An underlined “u” on the display is specific to induction models and means the zone doesn’t detect compatible cookware sitting on it, which is often mistaken for a broken burner when the pan itself is simply the wrong material. A stuck button reads d0, and a key short shows SE or -SE-. It’s worth noting that bare codes like E0, E1, E2, or E5 sometimes seen referenced online aren’t part of Samsung’s documented cooktop code set. Full details are on our cooktop error code page.

How We Repair Samsung Cooktops

Diagnosis starts with the error code and a pan-detection test on induction models, since a surprising number of “broken zone” calls turn out to be non-induction cookware. From there we test the induction coil module, glass-mounted temperature sensors, touch control board, and power relay board as needed. Most cooktop repairs are completed same-visit. Scheduling is available on our cooktop repair service page.
