1C on a Samsung washer belongs to the water-level and pressure-sensing problem family, the same group that covers the related 1E, LC, and LE readings on the lineup. How the water-level sensor works and fails
Samsung washers use a pressure sensor connected to the tub by a small air hose — as water rises, air pressure in the hose changes, and the sensor converts that into a reading the board uses to decide when to stop filling. A 1C problem points to a break somewhere in that measurement chain:
- The air hose between the tub and the sensor has kinked, disconnected, or developed a leak
- Condensation or water has worked its way into the hose or sensor port, throwing off the pressure reading
- The pressure sensor itself has drifted or failed internally
- A connector between the sensor and the control board has corroded or loosened
What to check before calling for service
Power the washer off at the breaker for about a minute, then run a short cycle with no clothes to see whether the problem clears or reappears at the same point in the cycle — a problem that shows up right at fill time points more directly at the sensor or hose than one that appears midway through. If you can access the back panel safely, look for an obviously pinched or disconnected hose near the tub, since that’s the most owner-fixable cause.
If the hose looks intact, the sensor itself likely needs testing or replacement, which involves opening the control housing and isn’t something to attempt without experience reading the board’s diagnostic points.
